spacing for a grazing...
The TinyMCE editor should be in sync with what the blog post displays.
So if I have a simple <;cr>; - with no spacing - that's what should get displayed.
And if I add a line - then the final post shoudl display that extra line.
Great first class!
OK - so we finally started the new semester.
Guidelines for newbies:
- when you create an account - make sure to add your face!
- make friends, join groups
- create groups
- leave comments on blog posts and images
- fill out your profile
Next up - new things to do!
I've become fascinated with Johnny Appleseed
Did you know that Johnny Appleseed was planting Apple orchards for hard cider?
This is 120 years before Prohibition.
There was little fresh water, and folks dranks cider instead.
Needless to say - drunkenism became a problem.
Anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Gumowitz Family
I sure hope I'm spelling their name correctly!
And I bet Yvonne is wondering "why is this guy pressuring me?"
Its about software development and testing......
And three little darlings.....
Times Sq is now a theme park
My god how times change. I remember seeing the plans for the Times Sq rennovation back in 1992.
Now its a theme park.
We're here in downtown Chagrin Falls
Reporting to you from the local school district office.

Case Connection Zone in the WSJ
The project we’re working on here at CWRU was written up in the WSJ today. Unfortunately I can’t link to the full article, as it’s behind a paywall.
In it Lev Gonick (the CIO of CWRU) explains that we’re working on figuring out the recipes for success of ultra high-speed connectivity.
“What do you DO with a 1G connection?”
That is the question.
Now for some answers.
What we launch in late May ‘10 won’t be the final answer, but it’ll be a beginning.
By combining advanced health, energy, education and safety services, a personalized News page and a social network, with blogging, activity streams, live-video help, groups with media sharing we hope to start to answer the question.
Now throw in some compelling local content and services and you’ve got yourself a full fledged ultra high-speed dashboard 2.0.
And that is what is required of every Digital City.

Once again Zynga proves that…..
Yahoo makes good on their open promises! Yahoo Contacts connects to Facebook Connect! I wonder if I can import a client’s mail list of 15k names?
TiVO rising - coolio new Internet rev 4 & they just won a $300M judgement against Echostar!
Permanent World Encyclopedia - by H.G. Wells (circa 1938)
WHAT! Apple acting like an evil company! No! Tell me it isn’t so!![]()
Collinwood will finally get it’s giant Red center!
The future of higher education - Lev is quoting Frank Zappa
MyPad, MySchmad - this is what Microsoft has percolating….

I really like John Battelle’s weekly blog summary posts. His combo of linking and commentary is what I strive for.
The other BigDave is partying in NYC
NOTE to iDEA Institute peeps: BloggerCon format!
NOTE TO SELF: Learn Reactor and Reichatron!

Now that I’m done doing those three articles I need to update the .ppt and go shake some trees for $1.5M in funding to pay for our pilot Digital Bureau and basic build out.
Meanwhile…
Lots of great stuff happened at the OpenID UX summit. Now I can’t wait til the Open Standards Stack roadshow hits the road to bring the message to normal people.
Indeed the usage of social media aggregators are useful in a niche scenario - but most people don’t have the need for an aggregator - that is ONLY an aggregator. So that says to me that social media aggregation is a feature, not a product!
Toyota has a branded channel on Tweetmeme - nice!
Products are finally coming out of Microsoft’s research labs
I wonder if Anil Dash or Gina Tripani asked Dave Winer if they could use the title “Think Tank“. Some of us remember….
Apparently Akamai is finally lowering it’s prices!
10 upcoming deals in on-line video
Killer Rube Goldberg rock video
Open Source SaaS - that’s kind of what we do
Setting up a base public account with git

Julius Genachowski likes the ‘virtuous circle’ approach
Jump to 4:15 into this video. Julius is touring the broadband project they’re doing in SF.
I wonder if he’s seen my three articles:
- Digital Cities and fiber connectivity
- Digital Cities and why I moved to Northern Ohio
- Digital Cities and the virtuous circle of training and volunteerism

My old buddy Tim Pozar is involved in getting fiber optic into public housing units - in SF! I wonder if he’d move here to Cleveland?
